Parents: As the testing “season” gets closer and closer, please be advised that I will be doing everything I can to review skills with your child. You can also help at home by speaking with your child about what we do in class. Especially during Book Talk, we will be playing review games and doing reinforcing activities to help your child better understand certain concepts of Language Arts. If you would like ideas of ways to help your child with specific skills, please do not hesitate to contact me, and I will do my best to help you. Thanks for your help!

Lesson plans are subject to change…
*CHANGE* No reading log this week!
Monday: Turn in HRL# 7, Fluency (Miley Cyrus), and Mayor letter; pick up Fluency (Rock Cycle Song). Today we will work with test-taking strategies to help prepare for the Benchmark exams in April.
Tuesday: Turn in Book Order Scavenger Hunt (if haven’t already). Today we will begin studying adjectives! We will do a class activity and fill in the adjectives section of our Parts of Speech books. Students will also learn the adjectives song to help them remember what an adjective is and does. Ask your child to share the song with you! Students will begin working on an adjectives packet for practice in groups.
Wednesday: Today we will continue working with adjectives.
Thursday: Today we will begin working with adverbs! Students will define the part of speech in their Parts of Speech books, then learn the song. Ask your child to sing you the adverb song! We will then practice with a packet of activities. Students will work both individually and in groups.
Friday: We will continue working with adverbs.
Book Talk/Enhancement: We will be reviewing types of sentences (declarative, exclamatory, interrogative, and imperative) this week. We will also work with inverted sentences. Finally, we will do some open response practice with released math-test items for Benchmark review.
